A MESSAGE FROM TYD SCHOOLS' SUPERINTENDENT
March 16, 2020
ACE and YouthWorks Students, Parents, and Community Members:
On Sunday, March 15th Governor Ducey and Superintendent of Public Instruction Hoffman called for the state-wide closure of all Arizona public schools until March 27th as a preventative measure necessary to halt the potential community-wide spread of COVID-19, otherwise referred to as the Corona Virus. The Tucson Youth Development Local Education Agency (LEA) fully supports and will comply with the Governor and our Superintendent's call for closure.
ACE and YouthWorks schools will be closed through March 27. This closure includes all athletic practices, events, games, competitions Interscholastic athletic programs, and any extra-curricular activity programming. This closure also includes the planned Letter Grade “A” Celebration scheduled for ACE Charter High School on Saturday, April 4, 2020. This activity will be rescheduled for a later date. We are in the process of determining a method to provide breakfast and lunch to those students who depend on this resource daily. Breakfast and lunch will not be available until after the regularly scheduled Spring Break, effective Monday, March 23rd. More information about this will be provided during the coming week.
I am sure we all agree that these are challenging times for our schools, our students and families, our staff and our community. It is imperative that we address these challenges and use them as an opportunity to come together as a community. It is during these times that our commitment and unity will define Tucson Youth Development and ACE and YouthWorks Charter High Schools. We are fully dedicated to the well-being of our students, families, and the communities that we serve. Our Leadership Team will continue to work to support and care for the students and families that depend on us. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Wishing you and your family good health and safety during this time. For information on how to protect your student and family, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at cdc.gov.
Sincerely,
