WHAT IS THE AZ SCHOOL TAX-CREDIT?

The Arizona School Tax Credit Program allows taxpayers to direct a portion of their state tax dollars to support students at qualifying public and charter schools—at no additional cost. Individuals can contribute up to $200, and couples filing jointly can give up to $400. These contributions help fund extracurricular activities, character education, college readiness exams, and career preparation programs. It's a meaningful way to support student success while receiving a dollar-for-dollar credit on your Arizona state income tax.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Your tax-credit contribution directly supports students by funding:
  • Extracurricular activities;
  • Character education programs;
  • Standardized testing fees;
  • Career and technical education assessments.

These activities greatly benefit students such as providing:
  • Social and emotional growth through the development of self-confidence, team and leadership-building skills and a sense of belonging to the school;
  • Academic support and motivitation through increased school engagement and attendance;
  • Career exploration and readiness through hands-on experience and exploration in various professional settings.
Positive adult mentorship through these activities, especially in the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged youth, plays a vital role in a young person’s success. By creating opportunities to connect with coaches, teachers, and community leaders, students gain access to trusted role models who offer consistent guidance, encouragement, and support. These relationships help strengthen the networks young people rely on as they navigate challenges—empowering them to stay on track, build confidence, and reach their education goals.

Programs with positive adult mentorship supported by the Arizona School Tax-Credit help youth build confidence, stay on track, and reach their goals—but the impact doesn’t stop there. When students are surrounded by role models who believe in them, entire communities grow stronger. Supporting these activities means investing in a future filled with engaged, capable, and empowered citizens.

Your tax-credit contribution supports more than a student’s journey—it invests in the shared future of us all.
